Finally Armenian skies will see a domestic carrier. Already in April there will be a new Armenian carrier performing scheduled flights. The spokesman for the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) of Armenia Ruben Grdzelyan told the great news to NEWS.am.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union Armenia has tried twice to have a domestic carrier. The first one was the famous ArmAvia. It was in service from 1996 to 2013 when it went bankrup.
The second try was with Air Armenia. Although Air Armenia was founded in 2003 it was granted the permission to conduct passenger flights by CAD only in 2013. The success did not last long as it went bankrupt the following year.
We can only hope that in the crowded world of global aviation there is a place for an Armenian carrier too.
